MUSC 225 - Digital Music Production

Building upon the skills learned in MUSC 125 , this course offers a deeper exploration of creating and producing music using a digital audio workstation. Students will create larger music projects using software-based tools such as loops, MIDI sequencing, pitch and time correction, synthesis and sampling, and a variety of signal processors and effects. This course will also introduce basic mixing and mastering techniques for music.

Prerequisite(s): MUSC 125  with a grade of “C-” or better.

Course Frequency: S (even years)

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Produce multitrack music projects incorporating loops, recordings, synthesized sounds, and/or sampled audio, using a digital audio workstation.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of basic synthesis and sampling techniques.
  3. Demonstrate familiarity with audio processors, repair tools, and effects, and their proper use in in digital music productions.
