MGMT 415 - Sport Law

This course will demonstrate how constitutional law, contract law, tort law, and anti-trust law apply to the sport industry. In addition, the course will provide a fundamental understanding of negligence, liability for injuries, legal status of sports organizations, risk management, and crisis management.

Prerequisite(s): MGMT 315  

Course Frequency: F

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify regulatory aspects of high school, collegiate, and professional sports.
  2. Analyze court cases to identify their implications for issues arising in sport management.
  3. Explain Title IX and how it applies to sports.
  4. Understand key elements of law within sports pertaining to employment, discrimination, sexual harassment, antitrust, and collective bargaining.
