TEAC 499 - Student Teaching in K-12 Education

During this capstone field experience, teacher candidates assume responsibility for planning and delivering engaging instruction that aligns to content standards, builds on students’ prior learning and experiences, and differentiates for diverse learners. Within a safe and equitable learning environment, candidates utilize formative and summative assessment data to make instructional decisions and provide meaningful feedback to students. Participants reflect on their professional practice throughout the field experience. Compliance with legal and ethical conduct as defined by law and district policy is expected. A mandatory seminar is attached to this field experience. No other courses may be taken concurrently with student teaching. This course is limited to teacher candidates who have requested a semester long student teaching experience. Teacher candidates seeking an endorsement that requires student teaching would not be eligible for this experience.

Prerequisite(s): Must have passed Teacher Education Program Checkpoint III.

Grading Method: Student option.
