SEDU 442 - Methods of Teaching Vocal Music 3 Credit(s)
The intent of this course is to help students translate educational theory into best practices in order to teach effectively in a vocal music classroom. Particular attention will be given to the following topics: awareness of and development of a broad range of learning resources and instructional strategies that are appropriate to diverse classrooms, use of assessment strategies and technology as a means to enhance student learning, awareness of the standards and resources of the professional organization, consideration of curricular and ethical issues relative to teaching the subject area, and opportunities to practice instructional skills through such approaches as micro teaching. EDUC 405 or SEDU 405 will be required with one of the following courses: EDUC 403 , SEDU 442 or SEDU 443 .
Prerequisite(s): SEDU 310 and must have passed Teacher Education Program Checkpoint II; or passed Checkpoint I and have permission from the instructor.
