A survey of the basic theories and techniques of psychological counseling.

Prerequisite(s): PSYC 100  and one 200 level psychology course.

Course Frequency: AN

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe ethics and codes of conduct as applied to the profession of counseling.
  2. Describe common cultural and lifespan development issues in clients which might be seen by a counselor.
  3. Describe how diversity and multicultural changes have effected the counseling profession.
  4. Critically compare major theories of counseling.
  5. Develop decision rules for choosing to apply a theory to a particular case.
