Students learn and apply knowledge, principles, and skills to engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate practice with children and their families as well as explore the interaction with groups, organizations, and communities with which they interact. Social work policies are critiqued along with the range of settings in which social work with children and their families may be practiced. Students apply ethical and professional principles and the principles of diversity and difference to families and children, appraise ways to advance human rights and social and economic justice, and engage in research-informed practice and practice-informed research with families and children, all within the context of understanding human behavior and the social environment.
