GNDR 100 - Introduction to Gender Studies

The foundation course for gender studies, this course offers students an opportunity to consider and analyze concepts through feminist perspectives from an interdisciplinary group of academic fields. The focus will be on integrating information, discussing ideas, and applying concepts to a variety of personal and professional contexts to cultivate a better understanding of how gender, sexuality, identity, and intersectionality affect experiences.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Discuss how gender and sexuality have been defined and portrayed in various cultural and historical contexts.
  2. Define intersectionality and explain how it applies to historical and contemporary people and contexts.
  3. Integrate what they have learned in class with their own experience (BVU Signature Skill #2: Integrative Learning).
