EXSC 120 - Introduction to Public Health 3 Credit(s)
Public Health is the science of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the identification and implementation of effective interventions to promote public health. This course will provide a basic introduction to public health with emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, and foundational knowledge of key concepts in public health, such as: history of public health, controversial issues, epidemiology and biomedical sciences, and policy making with scientific theoretical foundations.

- Identify multiple ways that public health affects daily life.
- Define key public health terms.
- Utilize public health concepts and data to prevent and address population based health outcomes.
