BIOL 427 - Herpetology 3 Credit(s)
Study of the evolution, taxonomy, ecology, and natural history of amphibians and reptiles. Emphasis is placed upon the identification of Midwest species and studies of local populations. Two lecture hours plus two hours of laboratory per week.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 163 and BIOL 164 , or permission from instructor.
Course Frequency: ALT S
Grading Method: Student option.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify reptiles and amphibians by sight and (sometimes) call.
- Demonstrate understanding of the biology and biodiversity of herps.
- Integrate science and art to create detailed sketches of herps, capturing important and biologically relevant information.
- Create an endangered species rescue plan.
