BIOL 311 - Developmental Biology 3 Credit(s)
A study of basic processes of embryogenesis and evolutionary development in a variety of organisms, including vertebrate, invertebrate, and plant developmental systems. Cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie cell fate determination, cell differentiation, and organogenesis are emphasized as will the underlying genetics. Three lecture hours per week.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 260 or permission from instructor.

- Explain how major organ systems develop during embryonic development.
- Compare differences between major taxonomic groups in development.
- Analyze the role that key genes play in development.
