BIOL 121 - Using Science to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse


3 Credit(s)

An introduction course in biological science using the zombie apocalypse as a model to learn about biological processes and infectious diseases. Students will learn the science that writers and filmmakers use to make the zombie apocalypse seem plausible. Topics covered will be basic cellular processes and human physiology, infectious diseases, and epidemiology. Students will apply the content in a lab component.

General Education Course - Liberal Arts Core - Natural Science

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of living organism as physical systems and how organisms influence and are influenced by their environments.
  2. Evaluate data in relation to its importance within the a scientific field.
  3. Recognize the scientific method to develop and test a hypothesis.
