ARTD 369 - Concept Art and Character Design 3 Credit(s)
Students will build on traditional drawing and painting skills to create characters, environments, props, and images that communicate stories and ideas. Emphasis on applying effective composition, design, color, film language, silhouette, craft, and conceptualization. Students will learn how to draw and paint for various conceptual 2D and 3D art applications.
Prerequisite(s): ARTD 310 or permission of instructor.
Course Frequency: ALT S (even years)
Grading Method: Student option.
Learning Outcomes:
- Build on drawing, painting, and modelling skills to create compelling and original characters, enviornments, props, and images.
- Research, develop, and implement strong personal narrative in all projects across visual, oral, and written modalities.
- Update their personal portfolio of work, and use that portfolio to participate in professional development appropriate to their speciality.
- Research and present on artists, events, and trends in their field in written, oral, and visual modalities, including complex integration in their own artwork.
