ARTD 340 - Introduction to Printmaking 3 Credit(s)
This course provides a survey of traditional and non-traditional printmaking techniques, introducing students to a variety of basic printmaking processes including fundamentals of paper, inks, presses, printing and editioning. Students will use intaglio, relief, lithography and screen-printing to create a cohesive body of work, highlighting both additive and subtractive mark making.
Prerequisite(s): ARTD 195 or permission of the instructor.
Course Frequency: ALT S
Grading Method: Student option.
Learning Outcomes:
- Conceptualize an idea and then compose it into an aesthetically resolved artwork.
- Identify printmaking tools, methods, materials, and mediums as well as demonstrate skill and craft in their usage.
- Utilize recommended health and safety practices and demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others in a studio setting.
- Recognize the conceptual ramifications/possibilities of the multiple processes that are inherent in printmaking.
