This course concentrates on genetic principles to livestock improvements, with focus of the genetic basis of selection and systems of mating, as well as the development of breeding programs based on principles of population genetics.

Learning Outcomes:
- Understand genetic principles and how to apply them to improve performance in production, reproductive and carcass merit.
- Understand advantages and disadvantages of various systems of mating.
- Be able to apply genetic selection systems including EPDs.
