This course is intended to provide comprehensive coverage of accounting and financial reporting standards for governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
Prerequisite(s): ACCT 302 .
Course Frequency: AN
Grading Method: Student option.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the conceptual framework and measurement focus for state and local governments, and determine the appropriate fund(s) for recording activities.
- Prepare the financial statements included in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
- Develop appropriate reconciliations of government-wide financial statements.
- Measure, value, calculate, and present typical items and specific types of transactions that occur in governmental entities.
- Explain the importance of accountability for public funds, from budgeting and evaluating financial performance through auditing of financial statements.
- Prepare general purpose financial statements for nongovernmental, not-for-profit entities.
