SOCI 101 - Introduction to Sociology

A survey of sociological concepts and their implication to the study of everyday life. The goal of the course is to introduce a new perspective - the sociological perspective - in order to develop a new way to view, understand, and explain the wocial world in which we all live.

General Education Course - Liberal Arts Core - Social Science

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify and discuss basic sociological concepts, theories, and perspectives.
  2. Recognize that individual decisions are strongly influenced by the social world.
  3. Analyze various social institutions using the three main sociological perspectives.
  4. Apply sociological concepts to current events and everyday life.
  5. Develop a sociological imagination.
