EXSC 310 - Nutrition 3 Credit(s)
A course to introduce the basic nutritional aspects of health, fitness, and human physical performance. Topics presented include the body’s nutritional needs, diet planning, energy balance, and dietary supplements. Additionally, the course will advance to diet and nutrient needs of individuals involved in sport and exercise, and special populations nutrient needs.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 120 or BIOL 142 , or BIOL 164 or permission of the instructor.

Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the differences between macronutrients and micronutrients.
- Summarize the principles of energy metabolism and the production of ATP.
- Explain digestion, absorption and metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and protein.
- Discuss why vitamins and minerals are important for overall health and training
