AGBU 225 - Agricultural Business Management/ Farm Business Management

This course emphasizes the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful Agribusiness manager. Topics include agribusiness operations and management, planning, organization, decision-making, financial, economic, legal, staffing, risk and insurance considerations. Case analysis requiring the application of management techniques to real world problems in the management of resources such as land, livestock, labor and capital develop students’ problem-solving skills. Students are introduced to basic financial management considerations including record keeping and analysis, budgets, taxation, and finance. Introduction to traditional agricultural businesses and allied industries.

Prerequisite(s): MGMT 220  or BUSN 100

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Understand and apply principles of management to agribusiness organizations.
  2. Test group dynamics, decision-making, and problem-solving processes as applied to agribusiness operations.
  3. Construct strategic plans for an agribusiness that assess and develop corporate, business, and functional strategies for agribusiness operations.
  4. Formulate solutions to agribusiness questions using what they learn from readings, class discussions, research, case studies, and assignments.
