GPSC 553 - Internship I in School Counseling

This internship is an intensive supervision which includes 200 hours per internship course. The total internship experience (Internship I, Internship II, and Internship III) will total 600 hours, with at least 240 of hours of direct service. The internship hours can be collected after the 100 hour practicum is completed. This comprehensive work experience is designed to integrate the student’s developing professional school counseling skills into the educational workplace where both interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills are reinforced. A minimum of 100 hours of the practicum or internship experiences must be completed at each endorsement level (K-8 and 5-12). Required each week will be one hour of individual or triadic supervision, an hour and a half of group supervision, and appropriate evaluation.
Prerequisite(s): GPSC 552 with grade of “B” or higher.
Grading Method: Pass/Fail.
